  • Transportation to, from and around Santa Barbara

Transportation to and from the Santa Barbara Airport

The most convenient way to get to UCSB from the Santa Barbara airport is to telephone Yellow Cab: at 805-965-5111. Cab fare should be around $10 if you use the cabs at the airport, the fare is around $20.

If you are staying at The Best Western South Coast Inn, simply use the airport courtesy phone to call the Inn for pickup

If you are staying in San Miguel Residence Hall, you may call the residence hall for pickup at: 805-893-2275

If you are renting a car at the airport, turn right as you exit the rental car lot, onto William Moffet Lane. Follow the signs onto Campus. It is less than a five-minute drive. At the campus entrance, ask the kiosk attendant for directions to Kohn Hall (ITP).

Other information on door-to-door shuttles, taxi cabs, etc, from the Santa Barbara airport is available here.

Transportation to and from other airports: LAX, Burbank

The Roadrunner shuttle provides this service. Advance reservation is required

    Parking

Information about Parking at UCSB can be found at the TPS site .

If you drive onto the campus you may park in designated lots only. The fee charged for parking is $7.00 per day. As you enter campus at the West or East Gate, ask the parking attendant in the kiosk for a parking pass and map of the designated lots. If you are staying in the residence hall, the residence hall may have some parking permits available. Ask the desk attendant about parking passes.

If you have a parking permit at another UC campus, you need to bring that permit with you and present it at one of the parking kiosks on campus when you arrive. That entitles you for up to 5 day of free UC reciprocity parking. When you present the permit from your home campus at the kiosk on the first day, UCSB will issue you a UCSB campus permit. You will then need to pay for anything beyond the 5 days, either at $7/day or $55/month, which can be arranged at the parking kiosk anytime during those first 5 days.

    Local Buses

There are several bus lines from Santa Barbara to the UCSB Campus. Information on bus transportation can be found at the SBMTD site .

KITP visitors who will not be staying on campus are eligible for discount passes for the Santa Barbara/ Goleta city bus system.
