Tutorial Agenda and presentation ppt's, Workshop Agenda, Participants, Logistics "Boundary Layers in the Earth: a multidisciplinary view" The third CIDER Summer Program took place at the Kavli Institute of Theoretical Physics in Santa Barbara, June 22 - August 08, 2008. The organizers of the 2008 program were Barbara Romanowicz (UC Berkeley), Michael Manga (UC Berkeley), Louise Kellogg (UC Davis), Stan Hart (WHOI) and Adam Dziewonski (Harvard Univ.). Weeks 1-3 of this seven week program provided the opportunity for groups of scientists to interact freely and will take advantage of concurrent KITP programs on Dynamo Theory. Weeks 4-7 (July 13th-August 8th) featured a tutorial program for about 35 advanced graduate students and post-docs. For more information, go to the tutorial information webpage The 2008 summer program focused on multidisciplinary issues concerning the core-mantle boundary region, the transition from upper to lower mantle as well as the lithosphere-asthenosphere boundary Building upon the successful Summer'04 and Summer'06 CIDER programs, this program focused on the seismological, geodynamical, mineral physics and geochemical constraints on the nature and dynamics of major boundary layers in the earth. It will provide an overview of the state of each discipline as well as a venue for initiating and advancing new research in situ. The 2008 summer program addressed multidisciplinary issues concerning the core-mantle boundary region, the transition from upper to lower mantle as well as the lithosphere-asthenosphere boundary. See Tutorial and Workshop agendas for details. This program was funded by the EAR-CSEDI program of the NSF, with facilities provided by KITP, including office space and access to computers for participating scientists.
