There is an Airport in Santa Barbara, about four miles from the UC Santa Barbara campus. It is recommended that you plan to fly into Santa Barbara. Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is about two hours south of Santa Barbara. If you choose to fly into LAX, you can arrange to take the Santa Barbara Airbus, Amtrak, or a private rental car. The Shuttle schedule can be viewed here. There is no charge for this service. If you miss the shuttle bus, there are also city buses that are available to transport you to campus (MTD Santa Barbara). Local taxis are also an option. Parking on Campus: Finally, if you rent a car, there is parking on campus that costs $8.00 per day. For information about this option, see the UC Santa Barbara Parking and Transportation site. On the map to the left, you will see some of the hotels where we have rooms blocked. Hover your cursor over the letter to see where each hotel is. For a quick reference, "A" is Pacifica Suites, "C" is Holiday Inn, "D" is Best Western South Coast Inn, "G" is Extended Stay America, and "H" is the Ramada Limited. |
Please note that you are responsible for making your own lodging reservations. We do not guarantee availability or accuracy of the information below. Please call the specific hotel to confirm the details of your lodging. We reserved about 20 - 40 rooms per hotel for our block, so if you are unable to book at one hotel, try another. The prices below do not include applicable taxes and fees.
The hotels will be releasing the unreserved rooms 30 days before the beginning of the conference. Please book your room as soon as possible, as there are limited rooms available. The last day to book a room and take advantage of the rates below is June 18, 2010.

Extended Stay America, Santa Barbara:
We have reserved a block of rooms for the SEDI program under the name "SEDI." Extended Stay America offers single rooms with full kitchenettes, wireless internet for a one time fee, and free parking. Rooms are cleaned once per week. They are all single, queen, non-smoking, and have a room rate of $85.99 per night. Please call and make your own reservation under our room block to take advantage of this great rate. The reservation block is from June 6, 2010 to July 24, 2010.

We have reserved on campus housing for students and postdocs attending SEDI. All rooms are single occupancy and include a meal plan in the campus dining facilities (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). We are offering these at a reduced rate for student and postdoc participants.
You must prepay for your room and board at the time you reserve a dorm room; no refunds will be issued after June 20, 2010. (Please see below if you are planning to apply to SEDI for travel support).
The cost for a room plus three meals per day is $105.16. You can check in as early as Saturday, July 17, and check out as late as Saturday, July 24. Meals start with dinner the day you check in and end with breakfast the day you check out. If you check in Sunday, July 18 and check out Saturday, July 24, the total cost is $630.96.
There is an option to pay for your lodging and meals using your credit card in the registration system. We will also accept payment by personal check drawn from a US bank (checks must be made out to The Regents of the University of California). PLEASE DO NOT SEND CASH.
