ParticipantsLogisticslist of talksReading ListJuly 24-August 4The first week of the workshop portion of the CIDER program overlaps the final week of the tutorial program. There was no formal agenda for this part of the program. Following the general discussion on friday, July 28th, four groups were formed to work on research projects related to the transition zone. Group A: "Slabs in the transition zone". Participants : G. Leahy, V. Lekic, U. Manners, C. Reif, J. van Summeren, T-L. Tseng, M. Billen, W-P. Chen, A. Dziewonski. Presentation by group A Group B: "Seismic Velocity gradients across the transition zone". Participants: F. Cammarano , C. Dalton , N. de Koker , F. Marone, A. Piazzoni, Y. Wang, B. Romanowicz. Presentation by group B. Group C:"Mantle Potential Temperature".Participants: A. Courtier, R. Halama, M. Jackson, A. Larson, J. Lawrence, C.-T. Lee, Z. Wang, J. Warren, R. Workman, and W. Xu; with additional contributions from W.-P. Chen, S. Hart, M. Hirschmann, and L. Stixrude. Presentation by group C. Group E: "Mixing - aka Progress towards Chaos". Participants: K. Cooper, A. Harris, S. Hart, L. Kellogg, J. Prytulak, E. Vanacore; with help from: J. Naliboff, N. Conjeepuram, S. Mukhopadhyay, M. Billen. Presentation by group E.". The following papers were presented at the Fall'06 AGU, as a result of the work of these groups: Harris, A C, Naliboff, J, Prytulak, J, Vanacore, E, Cooper, K M, Hart, S, Kellogg, L H (2006) Quantifying Mixing and Scales of Heterogeneity in 2-D Numerical Models of Chaotic Mantle Mixing, Eos Trans.
