Lodging Information

Graduate students and post-docs will be staying at the Manzanita Residence Hall on the UCSB campus (F-1, Bldg 562). All meals are included and will be served in the campus dining commons.

Senior participants have several lodging options. The Extended Stay America has reasonable rates for stays longer than a week. Each room is set up as a studio apartment and includes basic cooking supplies. The Sandpiper Lodge has suites available for those traveling with children. Families may also want to check out Vacation Rentals by Owner for apartments and cottages. Accomadations should be reserved far in advance as the CIDER workshop will overlap with several popular festivals, including the Old Spanish Days Fiesta.

Senior participants will be expected to join the student participants for lunch in the dining commons. These shared meals can be an occasion for group socializing and exchanging scientific information and ideas. Meal tickets are $10 and will be available for purchase at the conference or at the dining commons by credit card only. On Wednesdays, CIDER will host special dinners for the entire group.

Rental Cars for Senior Participants

Rental cars for senior participants can be included in their per diem rate for reimbursement.

If you use a UCB negotiated rate, then you do not need to purchase the collision, loss damage, or liability insurance. If you are not renting through the UCB rate, the University's insurance does not cover you and if you purchase collision damage coverage, it is not reimbursable.
